|
Cherrie is a Chartered Sport & Exercise Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), and registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). As an applied practitioner, Cherrie has a variety of experience with athletes in mainstream sports including rugby, national league hockey, swimming and athletics, and has also worked with performers from more diverse activities including diving, karate and racing driving. Cherrie currently works as a Performance Psychologist for the English Institute of Sport (EIS) supporting elite athletes from British Diving and England Women's rugby. |
Cherrie is particularly interested in the use of web and multi-media formats to disseminate information, teach skills and monitor progress within sport, and has contributed extensively to the structure and development of the Hardcore Hockey website. As a player Cherrie played for Cannock while at school, and in Liverpool and Bangor while studying at University. She has played senior club hockey for Lancaster and Poynton. Cherrie writes - 'when I was learning to play we were entirely dependent on the coach to help us to progress. In my view the coach has an incredibly difficult task in developing the many aspects of hockey performance (fitness, technical, tactical and psychological) while also considering both individual players and the team. The aim of this site is to empower those who really want to develop and thereby support coaches in helping players to achieve their full potential'. |
"Sports Science is not just for elite athletes, my hope for this site is that psychology (and other aspects of sports science) are explained in clear & useful terms"
