Dr Mark Mullineux

Strength & Conditioning

Mark is a Personal Trainer, and Strength and Conditioning specialist, with extensive experience in the field. A fully qualified Personal Trainer, Mark is an advanced member of the Register of Exercise Professionals, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and UK Strength & Conditioning Association. In an industry where awarding bodies really matter, Mark’s training is of the highest quality and includes qualification from two organisations; his British Personal Training qualification is the prestigious YMCA award whilst his U.S qualification is from the esteemed National Strength & Conditioning Association. Mark is ‘Speed, Agility and Quickness’ (SAQ) qualified and is also able to deliver nutrition and weight-management advice.

Equally qualified in academic terms, Mark studied PE at Warwick University and continued to gain a Masters degree in Sport from the same institution. In recent years Mark has combined work with further postgraduate studies, achieving his Doctorate in 2008. Mark’s work experience is varied and has including work as a PE teacher, a Physical Education Instruction Officer in the RAF, and a University Lecturer. Mark left the Higher Education sector to develop his own consultancy and unique personal training programme.

Mark is a D32/33 assessor for Health and Fitness, and continues to work in the education of personal trainers; acting as a senior course Director for Northern Fitness and Education, and as an External Verifier for central YMCA qualifications. Equally at home conducting 1-1 consultancy and larger group work, Mark has recently designed a Strength and Conditioning programme for the highly successful Barrow Raiders Rugby League club.

Recently, Mark has devised a strength and conditioning programme for Bowdon men's 1st XI and is currently teaching the squad the lifts and techniques involved in such work.

"Hockey requires a high level of fitness;  dedicated players should seek an understanding of things such as strength, speed, endurance and how they can be trained.  Those who develop these areas will be one step ahead."
